Hello, it’s been a while! And now I (Anna, formerly of Anna International) am back with a snazzy new blog name and logo (designed by the amazing @smushdesigns) and colour scheme, but it’s still me. I am still going to be writing the same sort of thing I used to, but hopefully with more intention and in a more useful way.
The reason I haven’t been blogging much at all in the past two years is of course that I now have a beautiful daughter who keeps me busy, as well as our house renovation, a job, and a freelance business on the side. Basically, no time or too tired! But lately I have been making efforts to streamline the dull day to day things that need to be done but don’t give me any pleasure (the washing, food shopping, etc etc) so that I have more time to spend doing the things I enjoy, like spending time with my family, making things, and blogging. And when I have shared some of these things on Instagram, I’ve had messages asking me how, and it occurred to me that this would be a helpful thing to blog about, hence this reincarnation of Anna International (which let’s face it, didn’t really fit anymore, more like Anna Domestic!) into Make Life Simpler.
I am still going to share posts about my life, our renovation, crafts and makes, recipes, travel and parenting as I did before, but with an emphasis on things that are quick and easy to do but make a big impact. I also want to talk more about sustainability, something that has become very important to me and has prompted me to make a lot of changes in the past year or two, because I don’t believe it needs to be hard work or an all-or-nothing kind of approach, and there are so many things you can easily do that will make a difference, so I hope to cut through a lot of a noise and give you some simple ways to make changes that won’t cost you time or money, and to help you work out which changes that do come with a cost could be right for you.
This might all come a little out of the blue if you haven’t been following my Instagram Stories lately (I’m over there most days, do come and say hi!) but it is a change that has been coming for a long time. My life has changed so much since starting the blog, from being an almost too-regular traveller (hence the name) to maybe flying once or twice a year, from being single and living in rented accommodation to married, and owning and renovating our own home, and of course, becoming a parent, which has been the biggest change so far. It felt a bit strange to me to try and shoehorn my current life into the blog name that suited my life back then, and this feels so much more me, and fits with the things that give me pleasure now – long dog walks with my family in the countryside, time spent baking or cooking with my daughter, simple relaxing crafts I can do without too much effort after a busy day, and generally making our life as happy and carefree as possible on less sleep than I would like!
So I hope you will carry on following, and maybe sign up to get my posts by email so you don’t miss any. Meanwhile, let me know if there’s anything particular you would like to read in the comments (and to pre-empt those of you asking for the bathroom reveal at long last, it’s coming next week, I promise!).
